The attempt to remain healthy and feed your loved ones without breaking the bank or starving is a challenge. Add to that warm weather, and the desire to cook flies out the window. That’s where frozen meals come in handy, but often times they are loaded with unhealthy carbohydrates, excessive amounts of salt and unnecessary saturated fats. However, the health food craze has inspired many average Americans to create options for various eaters from vegans to Jews keeping Kosher to parents seeking healthy versions of kid favorites.
Rising Moon Organics offers vegetarian, organic options that satisfy the usual naughty cravings without the guilt through entrees such as macaroni and cheese, and pizza in varieties including plain, mushrooms and pesto with mozzarella. The pizza is made with wheat flour and organic cheese and the mac and cheese is made with semolina.
Looking for something to bring to work? Helen’s Kitchen offers a number of tofu dishes that do without meat or MSG, but have a slightly high sodium content, which ranges from 300mg to 390mg per meal serving. Meal choices include two American classics, chili and macaroni and cheese, as well as an Indian, Italian, Mexican and Thai dish, all of which offer a good source of protein and fiber and have significant amounts of vitamins and minerals, including iron.
The Fillo Factory is the perfect antidote to a last minute dinner party crisis thanks to the pre-made options including spinach pie and baklava. The meal options come from another company brand, Aunt Trudy’s, whose pockets come with and without cheese, in flavors such as traditional pizza and eggplant and roasted red peppers.
