China Confirms Tibetan Executions

Two Tibetans have been executed for their involvement in last year’s riots in Tibet, according to BBC News. The unrest broke out last year when peaceful demonstrations turned into riots in Lhasa. China says 22 innocent civilians died in the violence.

According to pro-Tibetan groups, the men are Lobsang Gyaltsen and Loyak. The two men were sentenced to death in April for starting fires during the riots. The Chinese government has confirmed these executions. Two others are believed to have been executed but their deaths were not confirmed.
