Accent Cosmetics: It’s All About The Color

There’s a new lip gloss in town and her name is Lipstick Queen. OK, so the brand may not be new, but it is my new favorite. The colors are so precise I’m dreaming the nail cosmetics market gets one more competitor. The innovative Aussie behind this brand is none other Poppie King, a longtime entrepreneur whose lip gloss collection entitled Fifteen Minutes of Fame was inspired by the one, the only, fame whore and pop art king Andy Warhol.

Naturally, the collection pictured above has 15 shades, all of which come with the twist-click applicator which pushes gloss out into the brush. The gloss is the perfect consistency–it’s soft, shiny with a matte tone,  and is not sticky. Our choice, 12 minutes-deep rose, is exactly what it promises. While it was only tested it on a Caucasian woman, I’m sure this is one color that will work for many women. It has proved to be an excellent day color and the new go-to. Once this item becomes the only lip product you carry, you’ll know the $16.50 was money well spent.

My next obsession is Urban Decay cream eyeliner. The rectangular compacts come with a double-sided brush, so the color can be applied as eye shadow or eye liner. Offering vibrant colors we love the forest green, dubbed Loaded, and the deep purple, called Empire.

Complete with a mirror, these are perfect for the makeup bag when you are preparing for an overnight or heading to a party after work. They are sheer and easy to blend, which makes them great for all seasons. The dark colors mean they are great for winter but the sheer quality that allows for easy blending and layering means they’d also be a great tool for a summer or beach holiday smoky eye. Also available in navy, a white glitter, black, and brown, this is a no brainer for $22.

Finally, for the brave, we recommend the LORAC Front of the Line Pro Eye Liner. LORAC has been offering beauty junkies amazing cosmetics for years. I’ve always been a slave to their lip gloss pots, but this time around, the new obsession is one that makes me want to master the art of liquid liner. The sleek pen comes with a flexible brush that has a fine point. The problem is one must know how to apply liquid liner because this baby sets ASAP, which means no smudging. In brown and black, without phthalates, sulfates or synthetic dyes, this is well worth $22.

Lipstick Queen is also available at Barneys New York, Space NK and Henri Bendel. LORAC and Urban Decay are both available at Sephora.
