Target announced that it will release a new product line later this month from Food Network starĀ Giada De Laurentiis. The line will include cookware products and specialty food items. The creation of the Giada De Laurentiis for Target begs the question–with her products, will be suddenly be sexy chefs? No, seriously, that would take a push-up bra, a hair stylist and many V-neck shirts. No really, the sight of the Cast Iron pans made us actually crave a crowd to cook for.
The beautiful red pots and of course the panini grill pan, featured below, had us at hello! It made us dream of grilled whole wheat tomato, basil and mozzarella sandwiches, Teriyaki salmon prepared in a grill pan, succotash in the braiser and a hearty stew or soup in the 6-quart cast iron Dutch Oven, which costs about $90. Maybe this doesn’t sound cheap but the same size Dutch Oven at Crate and Barrel, funnily enough from the line of another Food Network star, Mario Batali, is $110.

In addition to the cast iron collection, Giada’s line also includes Tri Ply Clad sauce pans, cutlery, cooking tools, five types of pasta, three kinds of pasta sauces, fresh pesto, light vinaigrettes and coffee. Products range in price from $6.99 for a nylon spoon with stainless-steel handle, to $199.99 for the 10-piece Tri Ply Clad cook set.
Starting this year, the native of Rome, Italy, will also be the retailer’s spokesperson for its selection of affordable groceries at Target and SuperTarget stores. The latest cookbook from the graduate of Le Cordon Bleu is entitled Giada At Home: Family Recipes from Italy and California. Published by Clarkson Potter, it will be release on March 30, 2010.
