The Chocolate Loophole

A woman that is not 100% comfortable with her body, which is probably 90% of American women, is always looking for the chocolate loophole. The chocolate loophole is the way we can satisfy the craving without overdoing it or feeling guilty later. Dark chocolate that is at least 60% cacao was until now, the best way, because despite not having fewer calories, the bars are often dairy-free and are much lower in sugar and carbohydrates. But, the snack drawer just got bigger with the latest item to meet our loophole criteria.

I’ve been a fan of Kashi for years, loving their tagline, Seven Whole Grains on a Mission, and enjoying their cereals, when my system can handle the insane fiber content! This weekend, a quick trip to Target led me to their latest Fruit and Grain bar, Dark Chocolate Coconut. This beauty looks like the standard granola bar, topped with dark chocolate, and then topped with shredded coconut.

It has 120 calories, cane juice syrup and brown rice syrup for sweeteners, and the usual Kashi grain mixture. The carb total maxes out at 21 grams, including four grams of fiber and seven grams of sugar. It also has four grams of protein. This bar pairs perfectly with a nice cup of coffee, and I know so, because since I discovered it, I waved goodbye to the community candy bowls at work.

Pop the top for more on Kashi and Kashi recipes to try at home. Also be sure to check out the company’s latest release, a new cereal dubbed Kashi! GoLean Crisp! Toasted Berry Crumble, which contains dried cranberries and wild blueberries.
