Send to KindlePublicly-traded smoothie company Jamba Juice (NASDAQ:JMBA) recently revealed a menu addition that puts it among the food companies banking on the superfruit trend. To embrace the trend and the wonderful summer season, Jamba Juice added three new Superfruit products.
The new addition is Yumberry or ‘yangmei’, which will be available in the Super Yumberry Classic Smoothie, Berry Yumberry All Fruit Smoothie and Yumberry Topper Ideal Meal. The fruit is found in Asia and is said to be rich in antioxidants that combat free radicals. Among other things, it is said to be rich in vitamin C, and to have a sweet and tart taste. The new products, like all Jamba Juice products, are free of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), artificial preservatives, artificial flavors and trans fat.
Berry Yumberry is made with Yumberry juice, blueberries, mangos and peaches; the Super Yumberry is made of Yumberry juice with strawberries, peaches, sorbet and ice; and the Yumberry Topper Ideal Meal is a mix of yumberry juice, blueberries, strawberries, bananas, nonfat yogurt, a bit of soymilk, a sprinkling of organic granola and fresh bananas. Sounds like the perfect summer lunch to me. And we always love a company that just says no to HFCS!
Trendcetera first told you about Yumberry in June 2008. Check out our post on this British superfruit juice company. Later, Honest Tea jumped on the Yumberry bandwagon and we covered that too, in December 2008.
