About

WHAT IS TRENDCETERA?
Trendcetera Magazine is an online publication that forecasts which global lifestyle trends will make it big in America and how to make shoppers smarter . We are a grass roots journalistic endeavor that produces an editorial Webzine. Trendcetera falls halfway between the glossies that track trends and the trade publications that predict them. We aim to give our ethnically diverse readers a heads up on what will be popular in America in the areas of beauty (Paints & Potions) and wellness (Nutri-Life) , but we also cover travel & leisure, technology and culture trends in our Culture & Leisure section.

APPLICATION
For example: many companies are using elements often found in ayurvedic traditions and including them in products made for Americans. This shows the influence globalization has on Americans because in our attempt to eat healthier and improve our skin, we are fusing both new technologies and old traditions, local and foreign.

IMPACT
However, we also want to showcase potentially helpful and harmful ingredients. Through this, we hope that American shoppers will scrutinize the labels on beauty and health products the way they do with food items. We hope this will help them become smarter shoppers and hopefully teach them to buy from socially responsible companies that respect the environment, their workers and their consumers.

NEWS FLASH
Meanwhile, our Current Events section aggregates global news to give readers an easy way to catch up on headlines from around the world, including international news, science and health updates, drug news and retail updates. This could mean a change at Wal-Mart, an update on AIDS research, a Coup d’Etat or a major drug or human trafficking bust.

SHATTERING STEREOTYPES
Our America’s Faces section spotlights real U.S. residents with exotic looks we believe challenge traditional beauty norms. These people are selected randomly off the street and interviewed. Interviews are printed as is, with no editing, and photos are taken on the spot, with NO airbrushing. This section helps us showcase people and their interests, to breakdown stereotypes. For example, some people might see a young man of color on the street and have an assumption, but would they assume he is a graphic design or a creative director?

Finally, our blog, The Daily Bitch, serves as an outlet for the contributors where they can explore and vent about common issues and elements of interest in their lives. This could be healthcare, plastic surgery, energy or immigration. Or it could be a horribly dressed co-worker! It’s all about life and that is not predictable.
